Pre production planning: Deconstructions
The mise en scene for many of the shots in the opening title
sequence for this film is that the characters are teenagers, dressed in stereotypical
teenager clothes – smart casual, jeans and baggy shirts. There are lots of
teenagers about and in the background there is a school building. This film is
obviously set in a school.
The noise in the background of the school shots is of
playground chatter that also indicates that the setting of the film is in a high
school. As the titles appear there is also the sound of a current of the time
pop song. This song then fades into another teenage pop song that also
clarifies to the audience that the film is a teenager’s film, set in a school.
